Life with you is always a picnic. My Summer #TBaycation

Happy June! Summer is almost officially here… which means it’s almost time for the 2020 Bay Awesome Summer Bucket List. The pandemic might have some impacts on the things we do or how many people we do our activities with, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be an awesome summer! It will be a TBaycation right here at home. Thunder Bay has SO much to offer right out our doorstep, and it’s important now more than ever, we support local businesses while enjoying our beautiful city.

Tourism Thunder Bay and CEDC Thunder Bay want to know what you are up to for your Thunder Bay staycation and what favourite local items you are including. Check out the new Summer Tbaycation Contest for an opportunity to win one of 13 prize packs of local goodies!  The contest starts June 5th.

My summer #Tbaycation is kicking off by taking in a local picnic full of awesome items made or purchased right here at home (even a book by a local author!). There’s nothing better than enjoying some fresh air on a warm day—especially if there’s food involved. Whether it’s at a park, a beach, or right in your backyard, roll out your picnic blanket and have a seat—it’s time to get your alfresco on! My fav Tbay picnic spots include Picnic Point, Mckenzie Point, Silver Harbour, my recent discovery of Arrow River Falls or even just finding a new spot near camp. Anywhere that I can dip my toes in the water!

Some local foods are just made for summer picnics—like a delicious cherry tart from Sweet North or fresh tomatoes from Debruin’s. And the coolest thing since sliced bread? A selection of cheeses for topping it, of course.  Fill up on favourites from Thunder Oak Cheese Farm – mine being Red Jalapeño Gouda.

More adventures to come! Stay tuned for the annual Bay Awesome TBay Summer Bucket List. This year I think we are going to rediscover our home together and all the things that make it awesome. Have a great Tbaycation summer. #BayAwesome  xo (Photos by my talented friend Dave Zahodnik of DZ Photography)
