Small businesses are essential for our economy and are a HUGE part of the fabric that makes up our community. Familiar faces behind these establishments are our family, neighbours, and friends, and all help create this place we call home. Remember the time they donated that prize for your shag, sponsored your baseball team, made delicious eats for your event, or helped you create that memorable moment with your family that you won’t ever forget?
Although we know they are all tough cookies, most are feeling a financial strain right now, and are worried about the future. So if you need to buy something— please, SUPPORT LOCAL. They need us now more than ever.
While we may not be able to visit our favourite restaurant or shop as we normally would, there are still many ways we can show our local love for the small business community without leaving the house. Here’s how:
Shop local — online, that is.
Your fav local bakery, shop, or clothing boutique may not have their usual storefront, but many are providing delivery or curbside pickup. Visit them online to see what’s up!
Order takeout or delivery.
Most restaurants have implemented contactless dropoff or pickup. Check out local specials and takeout menus. There are many creative options for an awesome dinner at home.
Share your local love! Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok & Twitter… write positive reviews, post photos of purchases, your dinners, that new top, or that picture perfect latte! Don’t forget to tag the business. It also helps to include local hashtags like #tbaylovin #tbay #thunderbay
Now go, Bay Awesome and SUPPORT LOCAL. Xo
